It was the spring of 2020. Coronavirus surged and farmers were shooting and gassing their pigs en masse in response to the breakdown. Farm animals everywhere were at greater risk than usual for abuse, neglect, and slaughter.
With 4/12 acres in Western North Carolina, I knew we could help. Honestly, though? No idea what we were getting into. But, one moon at a time, one precious being at a time, we began to create a sanctuary for farmed animals.
Sometimes our efforts feel tiny, like we are trying to scoop up the entire ocean with a teaspoon, but nevertheless each day we give it our all. Today our
Our promise of lifelong care also includes a focus on sustainability, education on the plight of farmed animals and vegan solutions, and to make this world a safer and more compassionate place for all beings. We have future plans to invite visitors to the sanctuary and are looking for regular volunteers to help with the daily operations of our little nonprofit.
